Probably our favorite item of cookware, and definitely our favorite wedding gift, everyone needs one of these. It may seem like a winter staple, but seeing as how we’re right in the middle of wedding season, it seemed like a good time to explain our love for this essential item. We should start by saying it is not just for cold weather use. We feel like sometimes when we give the dutch oven as a gift the recipients think that maybe someday they will make chili in it. Not a bad plan, but this makes us think we should starting sending them with an instruction manual. There are very few things that cannot be cooked in a Le Creuset. Actually we can’t think of any right now. Waffles? No, there is probably a way to do that. Whether you are quickly sautéing vegetables or slow cooking a roast, the Le Creuset has you covered. The thick cast iron provides a slow even heat while the enameled surface makes it easier to clean. We can’t imagine making risotto in anything else and it makes a perfect loaf of bread. Trust us (recipe here). Even if you do not cook and never plan to use it, a Le Creuset always looks good on the stove and they now come in enough colors to suit any style. Start with the 5 ½ quart size.
